Dana Geller

Dana has been an ESOL teacher for 30 years. Over this time she has formed close personal bonds with many of the families she teaches. Witnessing firsthand the trauma resulting from immigration detentions and deportations, she felt the call to do something to support her students and their families during these troubling times.

Dana ha sido maestra de ESOL durante 30 años. En este tiempo ha formado vínculos personales cercanos con muchas de las familias a las que enseña. A 15-year-old high school student, Ruth manages all of the technology and online presence behind the RISE Fund — the website, the digital tools, and outreach. She brings a direct connection to youth and the next generation, helping make sure the families and students who need the fund can actually find it.

Silvia joined the RISE Fund to support the community of Greensboro, which has been suffering due to the many immigration arrests. These arrests are affecting the most vulnerable community members — our children. Children need their parents, for the health of the family and the health of the community.

Silvia se unió al RISE Fund para apoyar a la comunidad de Greensboro, que ha estado sufriendo debido a los muchos arrestos por inmigración. Donna joined the RISE Fund to support students who have recently been impacted by the separation of their families due to deportation or detention. A longtime advocate for education and community in Greene County, she has seen how quickly a single arrest can put a child's stability and schooling at risk. As Treasurer, she makes sure that every dollar donated is handled with care and reaches the families who need it most, so that support arrives quickly and no student has to navigate a crisis alone.

Tia spent more than 30 years teaching ESOL in Greensboro, building deep bonds with immigrant students and their families across generations of classrooms. Newly retired this year, she brings that experience — and the trust she has earned in the community — to the RISE Fund, making sure the families she has spent a career supporting never have to face a crisis alone.

Tia dedicó más de 30 años a enseñar ESOL en Greensboro, formando vínculos profundos con estudiantes inmigrantes y sus familias a lo largo de generaciones de salones de clase. Recién jubilada este año, aporta esa experiencia — y la confianza que se ha ganado en la comunidad — al RISE Fund, asegurando que las familias a las que ha apoyado durante toda su carrera nunca tengan que enfrentar una crisis solas.
